The Missing Peace"This Week"By The Bahrain Meditation Centre The Missing Peace Everything in the world is intricately interconnected and to everything there is a meaning and purpose. When we analyse the pieces of our life, we find it hard to fathom all that has happened to us. In the same way when we stop to scrutinize our friends, we lose sight of their wholeness, their inner and outer beauty. Yet, if we stop to look at the whole picture, we will see we have come a long way, as a person and as people. Science splits everything into molecules, atoms, electrons and quarks in order to try and understand the universe; however at the same time we cannot neglect how the whole co-exists. The water cycle, food cycle and the animal cycle teach us that everything is a vital component of the whole. For example, we cannot wish for the sunshine and not the rain, for the rain returns the moisture to the earth, giving birth to the flora. By understanding the sum total we come to understand the part. You will notice we tend to dissect people, conversations, events, universe and all other things when we are in a state of sorrow or seeking sympathy. When we are happy we need no answers nor do we analyze so deeply. Rather, there is acceptance and a flow in our life. The river of life continues to provide abundance and we are content. Thus the missing piece we seek for fulfilment is really peace of mind. This will happen only when we keep the bigger picture in focus, accept that all that is happening has a reason or purpose, and learn to relax from within. Learning to relax sounds easy and should come naturally, but as we start this journey we quickly notice that to truly relax requires information, understanding and practice. The striving for inner peace is a journey which has already begun in our mind and the further along we go the more layers within ourselves we discover, layers not of complexity but rather of simplicity. This week, do not forget to add the missing ‘peace’ to your jigsaw puzzle of life and then you can sit back, relax and just be! Om Shanti
