Transforming an Invisible Website to a Traffic Magnet !Transforming an Invisible Website to a Traffic Magnet !Part 3 of 3 © 2002 by Detlev Reimer -------- Daily : -------- ------------------------------- Establishing Reciprocal Links ------------------------------- Spend at least 15 minutes each day on reciprocal linking stra- tegies. This, as I already stated in an earlier article, is the single most important part of your website promotion. Some expla- nations why this is the case : There are already high traffic sites which are related to your business getting thousands or even tens of thousands of visitors every day. So what would happen if you had a link at their website ? Correct ; you would get a share of all their traffic. It might not be thousands of hits but even a few hits a day can add up if you have reciprocal links with hundreds of those "Traffic Magnets" . You can have a lot of that work automated by using "ZEUS", a spider program with the ability to crawl from one website to another, collecting the relevant pieces of information like email addresses and keywords of the visited sites. This means a lot less of manual work. It can be totally automa- ted and even sends emails to the webmasters with whom you want to establish these links. I just started using it and I am very pleased with the results . You can get "ZEUS" here : There is a free demo version available at their site , the created directories are not customizable, though. This means, you can't use the same layout which you use for the rest of your website. Therefore, I recommend you to use a registered version of Zeus or your link directory will not look very professional.... --------------------------- Using Startpage Programs --------------------------- You should use your startpage programs on a daily basis as this is one of the best ways to get targeted visitors to your website . Spend at least 15 to 30 minutes with clicking on the surfing links of your startpage programs to get a steady stream of new visitors to your website. Well, how do you use these startpage programs correctly ? You must know that you should get at least a handful of referrals in each of these programs to advertise your site con- sistently . This means in return that you have to click less, the more members you have in your downline . If you don't want to click, you can also purchase guaranteed hits to your target URL . If you only promote one program , you will have no problems to determine a target URL within your startpage member's area , just promote your site URL and you're done. But if you have a lot of other sites and programs you are promoting, then it could be a little more complicated. In order to keep an overview about all the startpage programs and URLs which you want to promote, you should use a home- page- and a siterotator. The ones I use come together with my Buildreferrals membership ( and are really affordable ($5/month). The first one, the homepage rotator let's you change between the different startpage programs just by clicking the "home"- button in your Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator . This means, once you have entered your surfpage URLs to get credits for clicking , you won't have to enter anything . This is an excellent feature to stay active in each of your start- page programs . It is very difficult to handle all this manually . Because with many of them, you will lose your membership if you don't view other members' sites . And I think it is only a fair deal because they can't give away free bonus credits to new members if no clicks are generated . Secondly, the siterotator allows you to promote multiple URLs with just one URL as there is a cgi-script installed which changes between the favourite programs you promote. You can also set the weight of each of these URLs to determine how often an URL shall be shown. Recommended Startpage Programs : Use them daily and your website will never run out of visitors ! That's it , I hope I could give you an impression what you have to do to get a high traffic site. You need to become active, though...just reading will never transform your website into a traffic magnet and it will stay invi- sible ....
